Gilberto & Jackie’s Yosemite Proposal

A Sunset Surprise at Taft Point

Gilberto had a plan—but Jackie had no idea.

What started as a “couples session” in Yosemite National Park slowly turned into something more. We spent the day exploring, keeping things relaxed and natural, just like any other session.

As the evening approached, we made our way out to Taft Point—with the cliffs opening up and the valley stretching out below.

Right as the sun began to drop behind the mountains, everything shifted.

In the middle of what felt like another quiet moment, Gilberto got down on one knee.

No big announcement. No pressure. Just a real, unexpected moment—set against one of the most unreal views in Yosemite.

And just like that, the entire day changed.

Planning a Proposal at Taft Point in Yosemite

Taft Point is one of the most iconic places to propose in Yosemite, known for its dramatic cliffside views and open landscape.

Sunset is one of the best times for a proposal here, offering soft light and a more intimate atmosphere as the day winds down. Because it’s a popular location, timing and planning ahead can help create a more private and relaxed experience.

Many couples choose to plan their proposal around a session like this—keeping it natural while still having the moment documented without it feeling staged.
