Jerome & Rachelle’s Yosemite Elopement

A Moody Sunrise at Taft Point & Rain at Glacier Point

Jerome and Rachelle’s day didn’t start with clear skies—and that’s what made it unforgettable.

We met before sunrise in Yosemite National Park and made our way out to Taft Point while the clouds were still hanging low over the valley.

The light was soft. The air felt still. And instead of a typical bright sunrise, everything leaned into a deeper, more moody tone that made the entire moment feel even more intimate.

As the morning unfolded, we headed toward Glacier Point.

That’s when the weather shifted.

Light rain started to fall—just enough to change the atmosphere without taking anything away from the experience. If anything, it slowed everything down even more.

They didn’t rush. They didn’t try to avoid it.

They leaned into it.

And those moments—standing together with the mist, the rain, and the valley opening up behind them—ended up being some of the most real parts of the day.

Planning a Yosemite Elopement in Changing Weather

Taft Point and Glacier Point are two of the most iconic locations for a Yosemite elopement, each offering completely different perspectives of the valley.

While many couples hope for clear skies, Yosemite’s changing weather can create some of the most unique and memorable experiences. Overcast conditions soften the light, while light rain can add depth, mood, and atmosphere that you simply don’t get on a typical sunny day.

Planning with flexibility—especially around weather—can turn unexpected conditions into some of the best moments of your entire day.
