Katelyn & Nick's Lake Tahoe Session at Cave Rock

A sunrise couples session on Lake Tahoe's eastern shore.

Katelyn and Nick are the kind of couple who don't need much direction. They show up, move together, and let things happen — which made this session exactly what a sunrise at Cave Rock should be.

We arrived before the light hit the water. The lake was flat. The granite boulders along the shore were still cold. The Sierra Nevada across the basin were just starting to catch color at the ridgeline.

For the first hour, we just moved. Walked to the top. Took in the view. Let the light shift from blue to gold as the sun climbed over the mountains behind us.

There's no posing in these photos. No moment where someone is standing the way a photographer told them to stand.
