There's nowhere on earth

Lake Tahoe isn't just a backdrop — it's a living, breathing landscape that transforms ordinary moments into something eternal. Couples who elope here don't just get beautiful photos. They get a day they feel in their bones for the rest of their lives.

Adventurous Spirit

Elope somewhere that matches your boldness. A day built entirely around who you really are — not tradition, not expectation.

"Lake Tahoe doesn't make your elopement beautiful. It reveals the beauty that was already there."

WHY AJ PHOTOGRAPHY

on your most important day

Every couple deserves a photographer who does more than show up with a camera. Here's what you get with Armando.

MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

I'm Armando.
I'm here to take care of you.

I've spent years photographing elopements at Lake Tahoe, and the thing I hear most from couples afterward isn't about the photos — it's how calm and taken care of they felt throughout the day.

That's what I care about most. Beautiful images come from couples who feel safe, comfortable, and fully present. My job is to create that space for you, handle every logistical detail, and disappear into the background while capturing every authentic moment.

Lake Tahoe is my home and my muse. I know where the light falls across the water, which hidden coves stay quiet on a summer morning, and exactly when to be at Emerald Bay for a sunrise that will take your breath away.

BEST PLACES TO ELOPE AT LAKE TAHOE

I know every perfect location, season, and light

These are my most-loved elopement spots — each one chosen for its ability to transform a wedding day into something transcendent.

MOST ICONIC

Emerald Bay

A glacially-carved bay with crystal-green water and Vikingsholm Castle as your backdrop. Arguably the most photographed spot in all of California.

MOST PHOTOGENIC

Sand Harbor

Massive granite boulders tumbling into turquoise water. Sunrise here paints the rocks gold while the lake glows like glass beneath you.

MOST DRAMATIC

Eagle Falls

A cascading waterfall with Emerald Bay in the distance below. A short hike leads to one of the most dramatic ceremony spots on the west shore.

MOST INTIMATE

East Shore

Remote coves, ancient junipers, and undisturbed shoreline stretching for miles. The Nevada side offers quiet solitude and stunning mountain reflections.

THE PROCESS

Simple, guided,
completely stress-free

Four steps between right now and the most beautiful day of your life.

FAQ

Everything you need
to know before you ask

Planning a Yosemite elopement raises a lot of questions. Here are the ones I hear most often — and honest, practical answers to each.

  • Yes — every elopement ceremony in Yosemite requires an NPS Special Use Permit regardless of group size. The fee is $150, submitted by check or money order to the NPS office in El Portal, CA. Applications must arrive at least 21 days before your ceremony date and can be submitted up to one year in advance. We guide every couple through the complete application process at no extra charge.

  • For groups of 11 or fewer, you can hold your ceremony almost anywhere in the park except open meadows and riparian areas. The most photographed locations include Taft Point (dramatic 3,000-ft cliff edge, 2.2-mile hike), Glacier Point (panoramic Half Dome views, car-accessible May–November), Tunnel View (iconic valley panorama, no hiking), El Capitan Meadow (towering granite, no hiking), and Sentinel Dome (360-degree summit views, 2.2-mile hike).

  • Fall — September and October — is our most recommended season: dramatically fewer visitors, exceptional golden light, comfortable temperatures, and stable weather. Spring (April–May) delivers peak waterfall flow. Summer (June–August) requires sunrise ceremonies starting by 5:30 AM to avoid crowds. Winter (November–March) offers near-solitude and extraordinary snow-covered scenery in Yosemite Valley.

  • Absolutely. Tunnel View (drive-up, iconic valley panorama), El Capitan Meadow (flat meadow walk, towering granite), Valley View (minimal walking, Merced River framing), and Glacier Point when the road is open (May–November) all offer stunning ceremony settings with no hiking required.

  • Photography with AJ Photography NV starts at approximately $3,500 for full-day coverage. Packages that include cinematic film start at $4,500. All packages include planning guidance, NPS permit assistance, location scouting, and vendor referrals. Contact us for current pricing and availability for your date.

  • Yes — permit guidance is included in every Yosemite booking at no extra charge. We walk you through the NPS application, help you choose the right ceremony site for your group size and vision, review the form before submission, and confirm the permit has been received and approved well before your date.

  • 8 to 12 months in advance for summer and fall dates — September and October in particular book 6 to 12 months out. The NPS also caps Yosemite at 60 ceremony permits per month during peak season (May–October), so permit availability is a genuine constraint. Winter and spring dates typically have more flexibility 3 to 6 months out.

  • Yosemite Valley ceremonies fall within Mariposa County, California. Marriage licenses are issued by the Mariposa County Clerk-Recorder (approximately 45 minutes from the valley). A confidential license (~$144, no witness required) is the most popular choice for elopement couples. A public license (~$60–100) requires one witness. Both are legally equivalent.
